What is a System Bet

Updated over 2 months ago

A system bet is a form of betting that breaks your selections into multiple combinations. You win a payout whenever one or more of these combinations wins, depending on the specific system bet you have chosen. System bets differ from parlays because payouts don’t require all selections (or legs) to succeed.

System bets consist of different choices, depending on how many Legs you have on your Parlay. For example, with three selections (A, B, C):

  • Combinations: (A+B), (A+C), (B+C) as doubles; and (A+B+C) as a treble.

  • Total bets: 4 combinations.

X/10 would require at least X winning legs in order for you to get a return.Additionally, the total wager for a system bet equals the number of combinations multiplied by your stake per combination. For example, a 2/10 system creates 45 combinations. If you stake $10 per combination, the total amount wagered will be $10 × 45 = $450.

For example, if you place a system bet with 7/10, you only need to win 7 legs to get a return. However, the return will be small compared to the expected maximum payout. Winning 10/10 legs will result in maximum payout, but still less than a regular parlay. In a 7/10 system, the payouts depend significantly on the number of winning legs. For example, if only 7 legs win, payouts are generated from combinations containing the winning legs. If all 10 legs win, each combination pays out, leading to the maximum return for this system setup.
